Port Vysotsky coal throughput soars 50 percent to 2.2m tons
Freight volume handled by Port Vysotsky (Leningrad Region) in January-August of 2011 surged by 50 percent compared to the same period of 2010, to 2,200,937.6 tons of exported coal, the stevedore company said.
In August, Port Vysotsk handled 308,651 tons of coal cargo.
Port Vysotsky LLC operating the coal terminal, specializes in handling of coal cargo exported to Western Europe. The terminal is able to accommodate and handle two 45000dwt bulkers or 3 vessels each 25000dwt at a time. In 2010, the company exported 2.3 million tons of coal versus 2.9m tons a year earlier. The company’s projected coal throughput for this year is 4.5m tons, nearly twice as much than that of 2010.
