Santos Brasil Terminal to deploy Quay Crane OCR from Navis
Santos Brasil Terminal in Brazil is planning to implement Quay Crane optical character recognition (OCR) solution provided by the Navis STAR Technology Alliance, Ship-Technology reports.
The solution will allow Santos Brasil to increase vessel loading and discharge productivity and accuracy on vessels' stow.
The system combines the Navis SPARCS 3.7 terminal operating system and the Navis Marine Telematics Automated Vessel Load and Discharge with Quay Crane OCR and MatchMaker from APS Technology to automatically capture information as containers are loaded and discharged from vessels.
Cameras read the container information and, using MatchMaker, automate container hand-off to terminal trucks.
SureStow from APS then tracks the container load positions back to the vessel.
Navis is a part of Cargotec and the global technology standard for managing the movement of cargo through terminals.
