Singapore port cargo traffic rises 6.5 percent in Jan-Aug
Singapore port's throughput in January-August 2011 grew by 6.5% compared to the same period last year, to 358.73 million tons, the Port Authority said.
Shipments of crude oil rose 8.4 percent year-on-year, to 127.33 million tons.
The port’s container trade increased 4.4 percent to 19,847,000 TEUs.
In August, box volume was up 8.2% to 2,426,400 TEUs.
Singapore is a city-state located on an island in Southeast Asia. In 2010, throughput of the port of Singapore totaled 502 million tons.
