Marco Polo bags eight newbuildings contract
Offshore marine logistic firm Marco Polo Marine clinched shipbuilding contract to build eight offshore barges worth approximately S$3.4m ($2.7m), Seatrade Asia online reports.The eight offshore barges, booked by Marco Polo's existing customer, are scheduled to hit the waters in October 2011.
“We are pleased to have recurring orders placed by our customers as such repeat orders further strengthen our Batam Shipyard's position as a one-stop service centre,” said Sean Lee, ceo of Marco Polo.
Lee added the contract is expected to contribute to the profitability of the company's shipbuilding activities for the financial year ending 30 September 2012.
