Chongqing handles 3.4 million tonnes of international cargo in half year
CHONGQING handled 3.4 million tonnes of international cargo and 169,000 TEU of containers from January to June, Xinhua reports.
The southwest China city currently has three major channels for international logistics, which are the sea-rail intermodal, the Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe rail line and the Chongqing-Europe international cargo flight service.
This year, Chongqing will strengthen the cooperation between customs and railway authorities in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Urmuqi to secure the smooth operation of the three channels.

The city will also seek to develop new international sea-rail intermodal service via Yunnan and Guangxi. The new route in plan will run through Guiyang, Kunming, Dali, Ruili and Myanmar's Mandalay to the Middle East and Indian Ocean. Moving cargo from Chongqing to Rotterdam via the new route, which is 18,000 kilometres long, takes only 30 days.
