Russia, North Korea eye joint drills in 2012
Joint Russian-North Korean military exercise may be held in 2012, said Lt. Col. Igor Muginov, a spokesman for Eastern Military District Commander said Monday.
According to him, prospects of holding joint Russian-North Korean humanitarian exercise in 2012 were discussed by Eastern Military District Commander Admiral Konstantin Sidenko and representatives of Korean People's Army at the meeting in Pyongyang in Aug.
Admiral Sidenko and North Korean partners analyzed possibility to conduct joint exercises on search and rescue of distressed ships and rendering assistance to people suffered from natural disasters, added Igor Muginov.
An earlier report of the Asahi newspaper said Russia and North Korea would conduct joint military exercise in 2011.
