China's SITC posts 10% box volume growth
Shanghai's SITC, China's biggest privately owned integrated shipping logistics company, has posted a 10.1 percent year-on-year increase in container volume to 849,000 TEU for the first seven months of 2011, Xinhua reported.
The company's average rate also increased by 11.5% to US$550 per TEUs during the same period, while its freight forwarding shipments surged 67.6% to 737,814 TEUs.
SITC handled 134,265 TEU in July with a 7.3% growth, while the freight forwarder shipment volume grew 19.2% to 113,800 TEU with an average rate of $545 per TEU, up 7.6% year on year.
