STX Group announced on Monday that its subsidiary STX Dalian Shipbuilding has secured an order to build eight 2,000 teu containerships for Sea Consortium (Seacon), Seatrade Asia Online reports. The $240m contract will see the first containership delivered from the Dalian yard in China from April 2013.
STX Group said the Dalian shipyard sits on an order backlog of S$3.34bn and is expected to build more than 30 vessels this year.
