Turkey’s Bosporus to be closed for naval exercises on Sept. 29
Transit for vessels traveling though Turkey’s Bosporus Strait will be suspended for four hours on Sept. 29 to allow for emergency naval exercises, shipping information provider the Gulf Agency Co. said., Bloomberg reports. The Bosporus will be closed between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. local time Sept. 29, GAC shipping operator Mutlu Tutuncu said by phone from Istanbul, citing information from the Turkish Vessel Traffic Center. About 55,000 vessels pass through the strait each year, GAC said in an e-mailed report, referring to data from the Turkish ministry of environment and urbanization.
