Russia to invest heavily in shipbuilding industry in 2012-14
State support of the Russian shipbuilding industry during the period of 2012-2014 may total about 140 billion rubles, the Ministry of Economic Development said.
According to the 2012-2014 forecast of social and economic development of the Russian Federation prepared by the Ministry the money will be invested in execution of defense order, in expansion of military and technical cooperation, and in newbuildings orders for the needs of SCF, Rosneft, MMC Norilsk Nickel, Rosmorport, Gidrometflot, other shipping and fishing companies (tankers, supply ships, icebreakers, research vessels, ferries, fishing vessels and inland vessels, towboats, booms layers and rescue vessels).
The money will be spent through different federal target programs encouraging Russian defense, shipbuilding industry, leasing schemes. This will boost military and civil shipbuilding in the country by more than 70 percent until 2014, the forecast said.
