Huanghua port starts berth construction
Huanghua port, in China's Hebei province, has begun construction of two berths for container vessels, Xinhua reported.
The building of the berths, to come into operation by the end of the year, is a part of wider construction plan that will see 11 berths, with a throughput of 800,000 TEUs, constructed in the port area by 2015.
Huanghua port recorded a throughput of 6.2 million tonnes in the first seven months, with the last three months recording throughputs of one million tonnes each.
The port has clinched initial cooperation agreements with China Shipping and Grand China Logistics on starting container operations.
