APL to cease PCE service over the winter season
APL plans to stop operating its PCE service over the winter season, meaning that the two October sailings will be scrapped and the service officially suspended in November, Shippingazette reports.
The date of the final sailing is yet to be announced, said Alphaliner, adding that the PCE is operated using six 4,700-TEU ships from APL and maintained within the New World Alliance framework with MOL and Hyundai Merchant Marine taking slots in addition to Evergreen.
The port rotation for the PCE is Dalian, Xingang, Qingdao, Yokohama, Los Angeles, Oakland, Dutch Harbor, Yokohama, Busan and back to Dalian.
Alphaliner said the service was temporarily suspended between March and June 2011 due to weak cargo volumes. It was later reinstated for the peak season.
