Satellite communications provider Stratos is rolling out fixed rate broadband services for ships, Seatrade Asia online reports. Stratos FleetBroadband Flat Fee service will offer global coverage of up to 432kbps at a fixed price. The company did not say how much it would charge but described it as “affordable”.
The plan is available in 10GB and 15GB per-vessel options, and if the vessel exceeds monthly data limits the price will not increase but data speeds will be reduced.
