Yangzijiang launches 'Super Green' vessel
Chinese shipbuilder Yangzijiang Shipbuilding on Wednesday launched its first of four vessels ordered by Carisbrooke Shipping, Seatrade Asia online reports. The first 8,500 dwt vessel of its kind to be built by the Chinese shipyard, the Super Green 8500 type with Groot Cross-Bow design works on a 'wave-piercing' principle and offers a huge benefit in bringing down the installed propulsion power.
“This vessel... can have fuel savings of up to 30% besides providing a much smoother ride,” said Ren Yuanlin, executive chairman at Yangzijiang.
The privately-owned shipbuilder has also four bigger sized 10,000 dwt vessels of the same design on the orderbook for Carisbrooke Shipping.
