10 Terex RTGs delivered to Xiamen container terminal
Terex has delivered 10 rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes to Chinese shipping company COSCO Pacific to help increase container traffic handling capacity at the Ocean Gate Container Terminal in Xiamen, China, Cranestodaymagazine reports.
As part of a large order for 20 RTGs to support rapid development at the port, the 10 Terex RTG cranes were originally ordered in early 2010.
COSCO Pacific owns 70% of the port as part of a joint venture with Xiamen Haicang Investment Company, and expects a significant increase in the volume of container traffic passing through the port.
Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal’s general manager, Zhang Junsheng, said: “With container volumes through our Phase 1 terminal increasing constantly, we were looking for cranes capable of matching our intensive handling needs in the long-term.
“We feel confident that our new Terex RTG cranes will be a great contribution in helping us meet the challenge. Our decision was greatly influenced by Terex Port Equipment’s excellent reputation for robust reliable performance.”
Commenting on the deal, Terex Port Equipment’s general manager for its Heavy Port Equipment division and Noell Crane Systems in China, Maurizio Altieri, said, “Terex Port Equipment is proud that Xiamen Haicang Investment Company and a world-leading group like COSCO have put their trust in our machines. We are excited about taking part in the success of our customer’s activity as China’s economy continues to grow.”
