Russia’ projected grain exports to reach 23 million tons, official says
Russia plans to export 23 million tons of grain in the 2011-12 crop year, the Russian Government press office said.
The forecast figures were announced by Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov at his meeting with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Mr. Zubkov said this might be the best export performance and Russia could become the second major wheat exporter, next to the U.S. As of now, Russia has exported 9.1 million tons of grain, the official said. The expected corn harvest in Russia will reportedly total 90 million tons in 2011.
