Trade flows passing through the Finland’s port of Helsinki in January-September 2011 increased by 4 percent from a year earlier, to 7.6 million tons, the Port Authority said.
In the reporting period, imports rose by 6 percent to 4 million tons, exports – by 3 percent to 3.7 million tons.
In September, cargo traffic totaled 862 tons (+1%).
The number of passengers handled at the port in January-September increased to 7.9 million people (+5%) and to 1,660,000 people (+5) in September.
Port of Helsinki is a largest port in Finland. Cargo throughput of the port in 2010 grew by 12% y-o-y to 10,921,000 tons, container traffic rose 11% to 399,903 TEUs, Ro-Ro cargo shipments totaled 488,772 units (+13%).
