Multipurpose Bronka Terminal project gains pace
Construction works at the first two berths (#3, #4) of the new marine multipurpose transshipment complex (MMPK) Bronka (St. Petersburg) run on a schedule, the Bronka project investor said.
Construction of the St. Petersburg-based Bronka Terminal for handling ranged cargoes started in June 2011. Today, driving the piles for foundation of Berth Number 3 was completed. The same works at Berth Number 4 are scheduled to be completed by October 20 this year, Phoenix Ltd. said.
Meanwhile, construction materials, grooved piles have been purchased and delivered to the construction site. The piles intended for foundation of Berths Number 5 and Number 6 are now being coated with paint. This September, Phoenix Ltd. held a tender and selected the sub-contractors for the construction of these berths. Piles driving are scheduled to begin on October 24.
Earlier, the investor reported that reclamation works at the construction site of MMPK Bronka to build up the perimeter of the terminal’s second phase have been completed. In June and July 2011 the contractor formed a 11km-long dam and completed temporary shore protection on its outer side. Inside the perimeter, 2 million cbm of sand and mud excavated during dredging of the new port’s waters and approach channel, will be jetted during reclamation of the terminal artificial territory of total 85 ha.
Completion of dredging and reclamation works is scheduled for the end of 2014. The approach channel will be deepened to 14,4 m, its width will be 185 meters, the U-turn diameter - 420 m.
The marine multifunctional complex Bronka will comprise three specialized facilities: a container terminal encompassing 107 hectares, Ro-Ro terminal of 57 ha and logistics center of 42 ha. Container terminal will feature 1.175 m-long waterfront (including 5 berths), waterfront of rolling cargo terminal will be 630 meters (3 berths).
The Bronka Terminal first phase capacity is projected at 1.45 million TEUs and 260,000 units of Ro-Ro cargoes. The facility’s container throughput is planned to be increased to 1.9 million TEUs. Total private investment in the project is valued at RUB 43.8 billion. During the 2009-2011 period, the investor has injected over 3 billion rubles. The Bronka Multipurpose Terminal is expected to handle first ship at the end of 2014.
A fully-owned subsidiary of JSC Holding Company "Forum" Phoenix Ltd. was founded in 2007 specifically for the construction of the Bronka multifunctional marine cargo complex to be located in the new Cargo Area of the Big Port St. Petersburg. The project is supported by the Russian Ministry of Transport and the St. Petersburg City Administration.
