First call of the Hanseatic at Odessa port
Bahamas-flagged passenger liner Hanseatic (former name Society Adventurer) with 163 passengers onboard docked today at the passenger pier of Odessa Commercial Sea Port (OCSP, OMTP). This is the first visit of the Hanseatic at Odessa, the state-owned enterprise said.
The passenger boat has visited Greek and Turkish ports, Sochi, Yalta. After stop-over in Odessa the Hanseatic will head for Constanta, Varna, and Istanbul.
The mega-yacht was built in 1991 at a Finland shipyard. The vessel is in long-term charter of Hamburg-based Hapag-Lloyd Expedition Cruises.
State-owned Odessa Commercial Sea Port is a largest port in the Black Sea-Azov basin. The port encompasses 14 ha, 9-km waterfront and 54 berths. The port is able to handle annually 14 million tons of dry cargo and the same volume of petroleum products. Passenger terminal can accommodate 300-m vessels. In 2010, Odessa saw 72 calls of foreign-flagged cruise ships. Last year cargo throughput of OCSP was down 11.8% year-on-year, to 24.7 million tons.
