Swiber gets $102m in contracts for offshore works

Swiber has clinched two orders worth some $102m for offshore construction projects involving pipeline and subsea installation works in Southeast Asia, Seatrade Asia online reports. Both projects are scheduled to be completed by the fourth quarter of this year and by the second-quarter of 2013, respectively.

One of the contracts is from a new customer and another is a repeat order from an existing customer.

“Our orderbook, which is well-diversified geographically, allows us to capture the varying peak seasonal demand for each region,” said Francis Wong, group ceo and president of Swiber.

“We are in a sweet spot given structural growth in demand for energy in Asia and our proven capability of securing and delivering larger contracts.”

Swiber has secured to date, new contract wins amounting to $758m in 2011 from oil and gas majors for work in Asia and the Middle East.
