Singapore container volumes rise 8.1% in September

The port of Singapore handled larger container volumes in September year-on-year but traffic slowed down compared to the previous month, figures from the local port authority showed, Seatrade Asia online reports. Singapore registered 2.41m teu of containers in September, up 8.1% compared to 2.23m teu in the same month last year, according to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
Container throughput in September dropped 8.4% compared to 2.63m teu seen in August.
In the first nine months of this year, Singapore moved 22.31m teu of containers, up 51.% compared to 21.23m teu in the corresponding period of last year.
