UCLH mulls sale of shipbuilding assets next year

Universal Cargo Logistics Holding (UCLH) plans to complete the deal for Okskaya Shipyard and Nevsky Shipyard sale in the first half of 2012, the Group’s executive said.

There are several would-be bidders willing to purchase the shipbuilding assets, UCLH’s managing director Oleg Bukin told journalists at an inauguration of the Group’s container terminal in St. Petersburg. However, he did not unveil the buyers names.

Previously, UCLH had planned to sell the shipbuilding companies to United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC). Russian Financial Corp was reported as another bidder for the Holding’s assets.

Dutch-registered Universal Cargo Logistics Holding (UCL Holding) is an international transport group comprising a number of shipping, shipbuilding, railway, logistics and stevedoring companies based in Russia. The Group owns terminals at Sea Port Saint-Petersburg and Universal Handling Complex in the North-West Russia; southern ports of Tuapse and Taganrog. UCLH is a majority owner of Volga-Balt Transport Holding (VBTH).
