INTTRA breaks transaction records

INTTRA reported a record-breaking two million container orders initiated through its portal per month for the past two months, and is expected to process more than 22 million container orders in 2011, representing more than 14 percent of global container trade.

The Parsippany, New Jersey-headquartered company said e-commerce usage in ocean shipping had reached an all-time high, showing an increased demand for streamlined and optimised business processes throughout the industry.

China continued to show the highest number of container transactions per month, as well as year-over-year increases in e-commerce usage. Significant increases in e-commerce usage have also been reported in the US, as well as in three of the top 10 emerging markets, including India, Chile and Indonesia.

“This growth reinforces the benefits of increased efficiencies, improved data accuracy, and collaboration with trading partners," said Ken Bloom, CEO of INTTRA.

"INTTRA customers gain operational efficiencies throughout their supply chain and are able to quickly and easily access information to improve visibility to shipments and decision making.

"With more than 80 percent of the world's TEU capacity represented by the carriers on the INTTRA network, we will continue to provide the ocean freight industry with the quality of data and business insight needed to effectively manage their business and serve their customers," said Bloom.

"Through increased communication and collaboration with industry partners and customers, global shippers are able to better manage their supply chain and improve business performance."
