O.W. Bunker fuels recruitment drive for physical division

O.W. Bunker, one of the world’s leading suppliers and traders of marine fuel, today announced a significant recruitment drive in the European arm of its physical division on the back of continued growth and expansion within the region.  The company is seeking a number of new bunker traders for its European offices in Denmark, Belgium, Germany and Sweden, as well as two senior level risk managers positioned in Denmark.  This follows the recruitment of a new business development executive.
OW Bunker is looking for traders with at least one to two years’ experience of the shipping industry, and senior risk managers who are able to build close relationships with customers, helping them to implement effective fuel procurement and hedging strategies that maximise customer profitability; so essential in a volatile global economy and amidst rising oil prices.
Marianne Schrøder, Human Resources Director, OW Bunker, commented:
“At a time when professional standards are rising within the bunker industry and customers rightly expect higher levels of service from their fuel supply partner, it is vital that we invest in the next generation of marine fuel professionals.  We are looking for talented, ambitious and commercially-savvy candidates that are committed to helping us to deliver a truly world-class service to all of our customers and maintaining our pre-eminent position within the global bunkering industry.”
All successful applicants for the trader positions will benefit from OW Bunker’s industry leading training programme that covers all aspects of the marine fuel business, including physical supply operations, bunker trading and risk management, as well as in-depth insight into the OW Bunker brand and values.
As a global company that thrives on worldwide collaboration, the programme also includes a six-month secondment abroad.
This recruitment drive follows the recent appointment of a new business development executive within OW Bunker’s physical division.  Klaus Astrup Nielsen starts on 1st November and is a highly experienced senior professional who joins the company from related industries.
Jane Dahl Christensen, Executive Vice President, OW Bunker said:
“Despite the current global financial crisis, we are continuing to successfully grow our operations.  It is clear that customers want to work with fuel suppliers who can act as strategic partners, developing fuel procurement strategies that meet the many financial, and regulatory challenges that they now face in a market that experiencing such dramatic transition.  Having quality people who have the ability to work with customers in this consultative way is central to delivering our long-term business strategy.”
