The Corporation received the vessel, named 'm.t. Desh Virat' on October 29, a SCI release said here on Friday. The vessel was received from South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Company.
The second vessel is expected to be delivered to SCI in June next year, the release said. The vessel has a gross tonnage of 1,62,416 tonnes and deadweight of 3,19,000 and is the largest vessel in the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS), it said.
The VLCC has been classed with ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) and IRS and has been built to comply with the latest and most stringent international regulations, the release said, adding that, “its induction in the fleet will strengthen the Corporation 's position in the energy transportation sector.”
