Bergen Group awarded contract to build seismic vessel

Bergen Group has, through its subsidiaries Bergen Group Fosen and Bergen Group Landskrona, been awarded a contract with Volstad Maritime AS in Ålesund, Norway. The contract is for building and outfitting of a seismic vessel (Yard no. 82) to be designed by Skipsteknisk and to be chartered by Fugro. The total value of the contract is NOK 689 million. This contract has previously been subject to board approval, but has now been approved by the board..
The contract constitutes the fifth vessel contracted by Volstad Maritime at Bergen Group Fosen and Bergen Group Landskrona (former Fosen Yard). Earlier the yards have delivered the Diving Support vessel, Bibby Topaz, the Multipurpose ROV/Trencher, Volantis, and the seismic vessel, Geowave Endeavour, to the owner. Presently, the yard is outfitting the fourth of the vessels, yard number 81, a Multipurpose ROV/Trencher.
"We are very pleased to be awarded yet another order by Volstad Maritime", says Arnar Utseth, CEO at Bergen Group Fosen. "To be awarded the fifth large contract from the same customer is excellent feedback with respect to our competence and capabilities for building specialized offshore vessels", Utseth adds.
Bergen Group Fosen and Bergen Group Landskrona are parts of Bergen Group's Shipbuilding Division and are located at Rissa, Norway, and Landskrona, Sweden respectively. Combined, Fosen and Landskrona have access to good facilities and highly competent personnel, with excellent capabilities for designing and building specialized offshore vessels. The Shipbuilding Division consists of four units with total order backlog per 30.06.2009 of NOK 8 million including
LOI's.
