In January-October 2008, the port of Tallinn handled 24.341.8 million tonnes of cargo (-22.3%, year-on-year), the port informs.
In the reported period, transshipment of liquid bulk cargo amounted to 16.865.7 million tonnes (-11.8%), general cargo – 511,600 tonnes (-25.8%), dry cargo – 2.619.8 million tonnes (-63.7%). The port’s container throughput increased by 1% - to 154,453 TEU.
In the 10-month period, the port of Tallinn handled 18.988 million tonnes of foreign trade cargo (-28.2%) including 2.636.8 million tonnes of export cargo (+14.6%) and 16.351.6 million tonnes of export cargo (-32.3%). The port’s domestic export/import transshipment grew by 9.9% to 5.210.2 million tonnes including 3.121.8 million tonnes of import cargo (+0.2%) and 2.088.4 million tonnes of transit (+28.4%).
Seaport of Tallinn is a large cargo and passenger seaport located at the southern shore of the Tallinn Bay. It was founded in 1219.
