Universal Transshipment Complex of Ust-Luga port to reach full capacity in H1 2009

Universal Transshipment Complex (UPK OJSC) in the port of Ust-Luga plans to reach its full capacity of 3 million tonnes of cargo in the first half of 2009, UPK  press center reports. In 2008, over RUR 85 mln was invested into construction of port infrastructure facilities and purchase equipment.

Universal Transshipment Complex OJSC is a part of Universal Cargo Logistics Holding В.V., a transport holding controlling Sea Port of Saint Petersburg OJSC and Commercial Seaport of Taganrog OJSC. The Holding’s total throughput exceeds 14 million tonnes of cargo per year.

The holding’s strategy implies consolidation of transport assets including those related to maritime, river and railway transportation as well as stevedore business. The holding plans to handle at least 45 million tonnes of cargo by 2010.
