In January-October 2008, the port of Novorossiysk handled 94.018 million tonnes of cargo (-1.5%, year-on-year). According to the port’s statistics, transshipment of dry cargo amounted to 22.8 million tonnes (+1%, year-on-year), liquid bulk cargo – 71.18 million tonnes (-2.2%). Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port OJSC accounted for 72.4% of the port’s total throughput. In the reported period, the company handled 68.041 million tonnes of cargo (+3.4%, year-on-year).
Novorossiysk is Russia’s largest seaport in terms of throughput. The port’s quay line is 14.6-km long. It comprises 94 berths with 83% of the quay line accounting for cargo berths, 10 % – technological berths, 7 % – auxiliary berth. 70 % of the port’s throughput falls on export of oil and oil products. The port’s specialized terminals handle refrigerated cargo and containers.
