Merilinja launches new Finland-Belgium container service

Finnish shipping operator Merilinja has introduced a new container service between the Port of Antwerp and the West Finland port of Kokkola.
The first ship in this service, the 366 TEU container carrier MS Baltic Sea, sailed from the Port of Antwerp on November 4th.
With an average round-trip duration of ten days, the vessel will call three times a month.
Launched in response to market demand, Merilinja chose the Port of Antwerp "because of the excellent access it offers to the US, East Asia and the European hinterland," said Dick Fraser, the European representative of the port of Kokkola.
