SIDC is a partnership between the Port of Rotterdam from the Netherlands and the Government of Oman and the bulk jetty is part of the next phase of development of the existing industrial port complex.
SIDC has appointed Royal Haskoning as its consulting engineers for these works.
Contractors/ joint ventures, who can demonstrate proven ability, are invited to apply to pre-qualify for inclusion in a selected tender list, said a statement form SIDC.
All works are to be contracted under FIDIC Conditions of Contract Plant and Desing – Build (First Edition 1999) and
comprise a fully contractor-designed jetty, 600 m long, connected by way of trestle (approximately 700 m long) to the existing breakwater, with all necessary fixtures and fittings, it said.
Dredging works will be carried out in a separate contract.
SIDC may increase the scope of the project with optional works consisting of a jetty platform of 150m long attached to the trestle and a
separate platform of 300m long, the statement said.
All of the above works are programmed to commence in the second quarter of 2009 and are to be completed in stages over 18 months.
Depending on the award of the optional works the programme can be extended, the statement said.
