Quotas for off-shore fishing to be increased in Sakhalin Area

Sakhalin delegation, which included Heads of the Area department on fishing, fishers, scientists, took part in the work of the Far-Eastern scientific council. The delegation was headed by the vice-Governor Sergey KAREPKIN, the information policy department of the Sakhalin Area Administration reported to RIA PrimaMedia. The scientific council was held in Vladivostok. During the two-day meetings distribution of total accessible catch in the Far-Eastern fishing basin by quotas for 2009, changes and additions to Fishing Regulations, results of salmon fishing season and a number of other questions were discussed. In conclusion, it was decided to increase industrial quotas for off-shore fishing in Sakhalin Area. In total volume they will amount to 293,5 thousand tons (not taking into account salmon ones), that 6,5 thousand tons more than this year. Also quotas for catching pollack in all sub-zones of the island region were increased.
