Russian patrol vessel returns to Murmansk

The fishery patrol vessel ”Teriberka” is expected to return to Murmansk tomorrow, thus concluding this year’s patrol season.
The fishery patrol vessel ”Teriberka” has been hired by the Barents and White Sea territorial unit of the Russian federal Fishery Agency to patrol the Russian economic zone and the so-called Grey Zone – the disputed area between Norway and Russia.
Earlier this autumn “Teriberka” conducted two months of patrolling outside Canada and Greenland in the north western parts of The Atlantic Ocean. This was the first time in twelve years Russian fishery patrol vessels visited these areas.
This year Russia had four vessels conducting fishery patrols in northern waters; the rented vessels “Tituvenay”, “Skumur” and “Teriberka”, and “Mikula”, which belongs to Murmanrybvod, the Murmansk regional agency for fish resources protection. All the vessels had inspectors from both the Fishery Agency and FSB on board. This year’s fishery patrols are now terminated.
