Vladivostok Container Terminal LLC jointly with Russkaya Troyka CJSC and DalRefTrans LLC have dispatched a high-speed container train from the port of Vladivostok. It is the first train to be dispatched within the framework of forming a regular service between the port of Vladivostok and Moscow, FESCO press center reports.
High-speed container trains are supposed to be dispatched every week. The technology applied for handling of railway cargo envisages privileges as regards the period of container storage at the terminal.
The terminal is under a large-scale modernization today. The modernization is to raise the terminal capacity to 400,000 TEU per year. Within the framework of the modernization program two new 50-tonne STS cranes and two 45-tonne RMG cranes were acquired by the terminal in September 2008.
Vladivostok Container Terminal was put into operation in 1983 at berths No 16 and No 17 of Vladivostok seaport. In August 2003, VCT LLC was established on the terminal basis. In 2007, the terminal handled 199,650 TEU.
