  Authorities, experts board fire ravaged MISC tanker

  

  Stricken MISC tanker Bunga Alpinia has cooled enough to allow the Malaysian authorities and experts to board the vessel for inspections, Seatrade Asia online reports.
  
  Five crew members died the 38,000 dwt chemical tanker was wrecked by fire and explosions early on 26 July morning while loading Labuan.
  
  “The monitoring of 'hot spot' areas onboard the vessel has been reduced and boundary cooling has stopped, enabling the authorities and industry experts engaged by MISC to board the vessel to undertake inspection works,” MISC said on Tuesday.
  
  Pollution from the vessel has also been contained. “As of this morning [Tuesday], no further slick is seen emitting from Bunga Alpinia. However, we will continue to deploy fresh booms around the vessel to ensure continuous protection of the environment and surrounding communities,” the company said.
