Arctic expedition to determine Russia’s continental shelf
The Russian expedition, which plans to conduct geological and geophysical studies on the geological substantiation of the continental nature of the Mendeleev Elevation and the establishment of the outer limits of the continental shelf of the Russian Federation in the central Arctic basin, should start on August 8, 2012 from Murmansk, Rosmorport press office said.
The expedition will sail on two icebreakers of Rosmorport - Kapitan Dranitsyn and Dixon. At the same time, the Kapitan Dranitsyn will serve as a leading icebreaker and a scientific research station.
