MSC raises bunker surcharge
Geneva, Switzerland based container line Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC) today announced its Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) level will be USD $625 per twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) for all cargo from the Far East /Asia to Noumea, New Caledonia effective as of September 01, 2012, Ship & Bunker reports.
Effective April 1, 2012 the BAF level on all export cargo from Asian ports on the Wallaby and Panda services for Noumea, New Caledonia was set at USD $575 per TEU.
Last week the company said Bunker Compensation (BUC) rates between $550 and $910 for several routes would come into effect from September 1, 2012.
As of the end of July 2012, MSC said it was operating 440 container vessels with an intake capacity of 2,146,000 TEU's.
