Port of Singapore container traffic rises 6.9 percent

Container throughput at the Port of Singapore in January-July 2012 increased by 6.9% compared to the same period in 2011, to 18.41 million tons, the Port Authority statistics said.

In July, container volume rose 5% to 2.77 million TEUs.

Singapore is the city-state located on an island in Southeast Asia. Container traffic at Port of Singapore in 2011 rose 5.3% year-over-year, to 29.93 million TEUs. Annual cargo throughput at the port totaled 530.48 million tons.
