Port of Vyborg traffic soars 31 percent to 729,000 tons
Shipments of cargo through the Port of Vyborg for the past seven months of the year leaped by 31% from last year’s numbers, to 729,100 tons, the Big Port St. Petersburg Authority statistics said.
Shipments of bulk cargo increased by 21% to 474,100 tons, handling of general cargo jumped by 2.4 times to 221.7 tons, while liquid bulk volume plummeted by 43% to 31,500 tons. Coal exports through the Vyborg terminal rebounded by 3.6 times to 146,200 tons, of mineral fertilizers - by 17% to 315,200 tons.
Port of Vyborg is located on the intersection of waterways between the Gulf of Finland, the shipping system of Lake Saimaa and the Vuoksi River. There are 13 berths of total length of 1,480 rm in the port, based along the coastline of the Gulf of Vyborg.
