DSME bags five offshore platforms worth $2bn
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has won a $1.96bn order to build five fixed platforms for a customer in Africa. The units are scheduled for delivery by April 2016, Seatrade Asia online reports.
This is the first offshore order since DSME's first contract for a floating liquefied natural gas plant in June. The shipbuilder has previously said that it expects to boost orders for offshore equipment by 34% this year to $8.5bn.
DSME has boosted the proportion of new orders coming from the offshore segment to 70% of the $5.85bn it booked till end-June this year, up from 44% for the whole of last year.
