Neva-Metal’s cargo volumes up 16 percent to 1.6 mln tons
Cargo handling at St. Petersburg-based CJSC Neva-Metal terminal in January-July 2012 was 1.6 million tons, a 16-percent growth, driven primarily by general cargo shipments (break-bulk), compared to the same period a year before, the Severstal’s stevedore company said.
The seven-month volume of general cargoes handled by Neva-Metal soared to 150,000 tons versus 50,000 tons a year earlier.
In January-July, shipments of ferrous metal of Severstal’s Cherepovets MP accounted for 67% of the seven-month traffic, over 1 million tons.
Export of grab and suction bulk cargo reached about 70,000 tons (some 4% of total freight turnover). Containerized cargoes accounted for 20% of cargo throughput, or some 26,000 TEUs (about 18,000 pieces).
