Another milestone in Kozmino Oil Terminal Phase 2 construction
At least 20,000 cbm of material have been excavated and removed during dredging at Vostochny Port (Primorsky Territory). Dredging is performed in the framework of construction of Kozmino Oil Export Terminal Phase 2 (LLC "Spetsmornefteport Kozmino"), Vostochny Port Harbormaster Andrei Gorodishtyan told PortNews.
The dredging has started just a week ago and dredgers are removing the top layer of the bottom, the most difficult part of the whole project, the harbormaster said. According to him, until the end of August 2012 about 50,000 cbm of dredged material are expected to be removed in Kozmino, and in September - another 150,000 cbm. Overall, Marine Technologies, the company executing the dredging contract, will excavate and remove 300,000 cbm of dredged material.
"Work is underway and on schedule. Under the contract, dredging should be completed by October 31, but it is possible that it will be completed earlier," said Gorodishtyan.
Earlier, PortNews reported that the construction of the terminal’s waterfront had been completed and the second berth construction is underway.
Upon completion of Kozmino Oil Terminal Phase 2, which includes the construction of the last section of ESPO-2 pipeline, the facility’s annual capacity will be boosted from 15 million tons to 30 million tons of oil. Over the past seven months the Kozmino Terminal exported to the Asia-Pacific Region (APR) 9 million tons of crude oil.
Specialized Marine Oil Terminal Kozmino, operated by Spetsmornefteport Kozmino LLC (a subsidiary of Transneft), was commissioned in late 2009. Port Kozmino is the terminus of the ESPO Oil Pipeline (Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean). While the ESPO project is under construction the crude oil is being delivered to the terminal by the railroad.
