VPT expansion project to be approved by Vostochny Port Harbormaster
Development Project of Vostochny Petrochemical Terminal (VPT) based in Vostochny Port (Primorsky Territory) have been submitted for approval to the Harbormaster of Vostochny Port. The project may be approved by the end of this week. "Survey work has been completed, the design completion and certification by Glavgosekspertiza are scheduled on May 2013. So, next summer we could begin construction of new berths,” the port Harbormaster Andrei Gorodishtyan told PortNews.
The VPT expansion project is associated with the construction Vostochny Refinery in the port. The project involves building eight berths, including four berths on the left bank of the Khmylovka River for handling 10,000dwt product tankers. Another two berths designed for 40,000dwt tankers will be built on offshore pier. Remaining berths will be used for loading ships with the products produced by the refinery.
The terminal first phase capacity is projected to be at 3.4 million tons per year, of the second phase - more than 10 million tons.
