Rosmorrechflot names captains of Russia's inland waterways
Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot) has announced the appointments of captains of basin inland waterways of Russia. All candidates for the posts have been certified by the Certification Commission of Rosmorrechflot, the company said on Wednesday.
Deputy Transport Minister Viktor Olersky and Rosmorrechflot head Alexander Davydenko had interviewed each candidate before the appointment.
Victor Olersky noted that the industry has ambitious plans to switch freight flows on inland waterways and to boost traffic volumes to 250 million tons. This requires overhaul of the country’s inland waterways system, fleet upgrade and improvement of safety of navigation. For this purpose, the government establishes Russia's inland waterways port state control. Russian Ministry of Transportation has prepared all the necessary regulations for that, the official said.
According to the Federal law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation" (№ 131-FZ, 28.07.2012), the Code of Inland Water Transport was amended to provide for the conversion of existing state basin administrations into the Authority of Basin Inland Waterways and authorizing them to conduct port state control on the inland waterways of the Russian Federation.
