BW Maritime has taken the plunge on ordering its first LNG floating storage and regasification (LNG - FSRU) from Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), Seatrade Asia online reports.
The vessel will be able to act as a floating terminal able to receive and convert LNG into its gaseous form for offloading via pipelines, to gas facilities onshore. It is due to be delivered in 2015.
“It will be the latest addition to our fleet of 16 LNG carriers, building on and increasing our existing LNG expertise,” BW said.
