Cargo traffic of RF inland water transport up 12.1% to 142 mln t in 2012

In 2012, Russia’s inland water transport carried 142 mln tons of cargo, up 12.1%, year-on-year, press center Rosmorrechflot reports.

Cargo turnover totaled 80.7 bln t/km, up 35.7%, year-on-year (59.5 bln t/km).

In the reported period, 20 mln tons of cargo was delivered to the Far North regions (+3%, year-on-year).

Passenger transportation fell 4%, year-on-year, to 13.6 mln people. Passenger turnover amounted to 636.1 mln passengers per km, down 6.5%, year-on-year.

Cargo transshipment reached 186.2 mln t, or 101% against 2011 (184.3 mln t).
