Throughput of St. Petersburg port down 4% to 57.8 mln t in 2012

In 2012, throughput of St. Petersburg port fell by 4%, year-on-year, to 5,814,400 tons, the administration of Big Port St. Petersburg states.

Transshipment of dry bulk cargo fell by 23% to 5,525,500 tons including 764,900 tons of ore (up 11%) and 4,753,200 tons of mineral fertilizers (down 21%). 

Transshipment of loose cargo increased by 29% to 322,200 including 191,300 tons of grain (-9%) and transshipment of timber cargo increased by 31% to 254,800 tons.

General cargo throughput stayed at the level of the previous year – 13,913,400 tons including 4,437,300 tons of ferrous metal (-5%), 1,989,300 tons of non-ferrous metals (+24%) and 2,098,800 tons of refrigerated cargo (-20%).

The volume of oil products fell by 11% to 13,990,00 tons.

The port’s container throughput grew by 6.7% to 2,524,680 TEUs. The port also handled 764,700 tons of cargo carried by ferries (+11%).
