Moscow Shipyard starts building two Project 21770 Catran boats (graphics)

JSC Moscow Shipbuilding & Repair Yard (Moscow Shipyard) commences construction of two Project 21770 Catran rescue and personnel workboats  under the contract with Admiralty Shipyards OJSC, press center of the shipyard informs.

The series of the two boats will be built within the framework of the state defense order for the purposes of Russia’s Navy. The construction term is 250 calender days. The project was developed by JSC Almaz Central Design Bureau. 

Katran-class boats are used for maintaining everyday activities of a mother ship anchored off harbor or at naval base. Dimensions of the boat make possible to transport her by sea, road, railway, or air. Such boat can be piloted in all navigable waters inland.

Boat’s main characteristics: LOA - 9.12 m, beam – 3.32m, draft - 0.67 m, max. speed - 32 knots.
JSC Moscow Shipbuilding & Repair Yard (Moscow Shipyard, part of United Shipbuilding Corp.) is one of Russia's oldest shipyards founded in 1936. Throughout the years the shipyard has built more than 1,800 vessels with a total overall length of more than 52,000 meters. The firm specializes in building of river passenger vessels, fishing boats and 25-m / 50-m-long luxury yachts.
