Throughput of Vostochny Port up 10.9% to 1.7 mln t in Jan'14

In January 2014, Vostochny Port OJSC handled 1.7 mln t of export and coastal trade coal (+10.9%, year-on-year) which is a record high result for a winter month, the company’s press center says.

The company’s handling facilities demonstrated a record-high peak load for a winter period – 200 wagons per day at Universal Handling Terminal and 662 wagons at Specialized Coal Terminal. Over the first month of the year Universal Handling Terminal handled 3 Capesize vessels.

Oriental Treasure, Enterprise and Naxos Warrior bound for S. Korea Taiwan were loaded with over 400,000 coal.

Vostochny Port OJSC is the only port in Primorsk Territory to handle Capesize vessels. High performance of the conveyor equipment allows to handle over 35,000 t per day. The loading of one Capsize vessels takes less than 4 days on the average.

The company’s assets include a Specialized Coal Terminal with conveyer equipment system and railcar unloading station and a Universal Handling Terminal which specializes in clamshell coal handling. The Terminals’ annual capacities are 14.2 mln tonnes and 3 mln tonnes respectively.

As of today, export coal (mainly coal mined in Kuzbass) accounts for 98.5% of the company’s turnover with 1.5% of the coastal trade coal and 0.01% of other cargoes. Vostochny Port is the major stevedoring company of Russia specializing in coal transshipment.

In 2012, Vostochny Port OJSC commenced the construction of the Third Phase of the Coal Terminal.

Managing Port Company LLC is the sole executive body of Vostochny Port OJSC.
