Mv. “Adonia” makes maiden call at SLPA (Colombo)

Mv. “Adonia”, Owned and Operated by P&O Cruises, made her maiden call in Colombo on Wednesday 05th February 2014. Having sailed from Fujairah, she arrived in Colombo at 0530 Hrs at the Passenger Terminal of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) in Colombo.
The ship was built by Chantiers de 1’Atlantique at their shipyard in St. Nazaire, France. At 30,000 tonnes, Adonia is the smallest of seven ships currently in service with P&O Cruises. She officially entered service with the company in May 2011 and was named by Dame Shirley Bassey.
The Mv. “Adonia” arrived in Colombo with 664 passengers and 379 crew on board. Around 60% of the passengers traveled on excursions to Kandy, Pinnawala and on Colombo city tours.
To commemorate her maiden call in Colombo, a ceremony was held on board and the vessel exchanged Plaques with The Sri Lanka Ports Authority and their local Agents, Shipping Agency Services (Pvt) Ltd.
Carnival UK commenced their vessel calls in Sri Lanka in 2012, after a lapse of many years. “Arcadia” and “Aurora”, operated by P&O Cruises and “Queen Elizabeth” and “Queen Mary 2”, Operated by Cunard, are also scheduled to call in Colombo this year.
Mv. “Adonia” is also scheduled to call at the Port of Galle, in April this year.
